Tegfan Textiles – an artist’s blog

This is a quarterly updated blog spot in which I hope to explore new avenues of production within textiles, review experiences and inform you of any upcoming event which may be just around the corner.

The first 3 months have been so busy, the time has flown by. The artist community had sad news in February as we lost the amazingly creative ceramicist Katie Scarlett Howard. I had the privilege of working with her this year through Denbighshire Arts Service as an assistant on a Criw Celf master class for children. Ideas are being planned to keep Katie’s legacy remembered.

I have also been working for DAS in Rhyl on Lost in Art, a project aimed at people in the community living with dementia. Local schools have also visited to work with us and contributed enormously to the enjoyment of the sessions for the participants. We will start our next run of workshops again in May.

Arts and Friendship is a project held in the Carriageworks in Denbigh that I have been involved with from it’s conception. It is an art and craft based activity for people who may be socially isolated but the emphasis is on friendship, tea and cake!. Hopefully Arts and Friendship will run again from May with new artists involved in the creativities.

For June 2017 I will be planning some workshops to coincide with the Denbigh Midsummer Festival which runs from 1st to 24th this year. I am also hoping to work with fellow artist Tara Dean in a collaboration of our disciplines in print and textiles sometime this summer. Updates to follow in June 2017.
